William (Bill) was born in Austin, Texas on January 17, 1937 to the union of the late Jack Alexander and Rosie Mae Joyner. William grew up in Austin (St. John) where he attended school and accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at St. John College Heights Baptist Church where Reverend A. C. Clark was Pastor.

Bill, also known as "PawPaw" to his grandchildren and great-grands, was a friendly, caring, and generous man who loved his family dearly as they loved him. Bill was also respected and loved by many friends and neighbors. Everyone knows Bill loved to have fun, was a great dancer and loved to "dress to the nines". (He had a pretty nice collection on hats and boots as well).
