Cynthia N. Goerner, age 90, of Austin, passed away on August 26, 2017 in Georgetown. She was born on October 25, 1926 in Paige, Texas to Morris Owen Chapple and Beatrice (McPhaul) Chapple. She attended business school at Nixon-Clay Business College.

On January 19, 1946, Cynthia married Erwin Goerner in Paige, Texas. Erwin and Cynthia enjoyed their life while he was in the United States Marine Corps. During that time, they lived in California and Virginia and returned home to Texas in 1958, where Erwin retired from the Marine Corps in 1962. They...

Cynthia N. Goerner, age 90, of Austin, passed away on August 26, 2017 in Georgetown. She was born on October 25, 1926 in Paige, Texas to Morris Owen Chapple and Beatrice (McPhaul) Chapple. She attended business school at Nixon-Clay Business College.

On January 19, 1946, Cynthia married Erwin Goerner in Paige, Texas. Erwin and Cynthia enjoyed their life while he was in the United States Marine Corps. During that time, they lived in California and Virginia and returned home to Texas in 1958, where Erwin retired from the Marine Corps in 1962. They were married for 26 years before his death in 1972. Cynthia worked for the State of Texas as an administrative secretary and retired after thirty years of service. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin; and her brother, Morris W. Chapple. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughters, Dianne and husband James Lester and Gwen and husband Duane Blakeslee; grandchildren, Kevin and Heidi Coffman, Ken and Helen Jensen, Brian and Melanie Jensen, and David Blakeslee. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation to be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
